OUR
STORY:
Rob Smith founded Chartwell in 2000. Before founding Chartwell, Mr. Smith had
had a very diverse business career in which he was a licensed attorney, real
estate developer, investor, promoter and manager of a diverse portfolio
of going concerns in the manufacturing, retail, wholesale distribution,
technology and other “bread and butter”
industries. After one of his companies was sold to a Fortune 1000 company in
1998, Mr. Smith began to be inundated from friends and business acquaintances
for corporate finance and strategic business advice. He discovered that he had
a unique gift of being able to quickly identify and propose solutions to a wide
array of corporate finance issues that brought great value to those seeking his
help. Simply put, he had already experienced and crafted solutions for many of
the problems and opportunities that business owners face; and had learned the
value of objective, third party advice. Chartwell was started to perform
corporate finance advisory services; however, the business grew to where it
currently offers the following services:
CORPORATE FINANCE ADVISORY SERVICES
MERGERS AND ACQUISTIONS
VALUATIONS
LEGAL
ESTATE AND SUCCESSION PLANNING
RETIREMENT AND PENSION PLANS
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
WEALTH MANAGEMENT
INVESTMENT RESEARCH
TAX AND ACCOUNTING
NETWORK OUTSOURCING
REAL ESTATE ADVISORY
Chartwell offers “soup to nuts” business, corporate finance and wealth
management services to its client base. Through years of relationship building,
Chartwell has aligned itself with best in the industry strategic partnerships
that allow it to identify and solve a wide and complex array of issues. Think of Chartwell as a master home builder,
only in the corporate finance, employee benefits and wealth building
industries. Chartwell has the big picture vision to grasp a multiple of
different complex business and individual issues, envision a finished product
and coordinate all the components to see
that what is envisioned gets realized. Chartwell’s “subs” are master craftsmen
in their industry and the “subs” that
get used are the ones who provide the best service.
Chartwell starts by evaluating the client’s business. In most situations, there
is no individual wealth unless it is produced and created by a business model.
Chartwell’s years of experience in evaluating many different business models
and working with talented professionals in many different industries allow it
to give independent, objective third party advice and perhaps as is often the
case to make recommendations that save the business money, increases its sales
or enhance its efficiencies. Chartwell leverages its business experience with its
network of best in the industry professional service providers to give
objective “real world” advice to make your business stronger and more
profitable. It is generally a good and useful exercise to have us “take a look
under the hood” to see if we can bring value to your business. It is our
experience that business owners need this service as it is very easy for
management’s judgment to be clouded by the many demands of “running a business.”
Wealth cannot be managed effectively unless there is a clear understanding and
appreciation of how it is created.
While Chartwell has several different fee structures: upfront retainers, hourly
rates, success fees, etc., our most basic and preferred method is to simply
have a willing and open minded client (business or individual) have us take a
look at their business and or individual needs to simply see if we can help
them. This model is of little cost to
the client, except a little preparation and time, and we feel it is the best
model for opening a potentially long lasting relationship.
